public enemies

the body worlds

now in exhibit form!

my sister took me and her roommate to the Body Worlds exhibit yesterday,and i'm still nerding out about it.it was so amazing!the dead babies/fetuses were kind of sad (where the hell did they get still-developing fetuses?),and i really could have gone without the display cases full of male/female reproductive organs (so many penises!),but everything else was just SO COOL.
i got to see skinless people in various poses,i got to see all the individual muscles and nerves,i got to see the artery configuration of various organs,i got to see organs,and i got to see diseases.
yep.
diseases include: tumors,hemorrages,emphesema,obesity,results of heart attack,stroke,and enlargement of various organs such as the spleen (plus many more i didn't mention).
my favorite organ display was the digestive tract.they had a mouth/tongue attatched to the esophagus,which led down to the stomach(complete with liver),attatched to both intestines which were stretched out in the display case.
my favorite system display was the nervous system.in the display case,they had placed a brain and all the nerves in your body.i can't imagine how long it must have taken them to isolate all those nerves!
my favorite body display was the suspended couple.there was the guy who was standing (bending a little at the knees),and the girl who was supported on his knees.her shins were resting on his thighs,and they were touching foreheads.her back had been opened up,and her spine and brain were pulled out (but still attatched to her body),so you could see into her body cavity.and his back was also opened up,and i think they had pulled out his organs the same way they pulled out her spine,so the organs were still attatched to his body.
i love how they used real people and real organs for this exhibit.it really benefiets me as an artist (i saw a guy there with a sketch pad and a blue pencil sketching out the poses XD why didn't i think of that?)

you all should go.really.
